Watthour Meters for all your submetering needs!
Overview
Davidge Controls makes a variety of power meters for submetering. Most
are used by landlords to charge their tenants for the power they use. The
meters do not fit in the meter sockets used by most utility companies.
They mount next to a breaker panel or disconnect box and the current is sensed
by transformers installed over the existing wiring.

Meter Names
We sell to a lot of building owners who are not familiar with standard electrical terms.
The resulting confusion prompted us to name all our meters. We named them after
our national parks and each named product designates a different electrical
system or function. Click on the green titles below to open a data sheet
for that meter to get all the specifications.

Yosemite Watthour Meter — 120/240
volts
Three-wire, 110-120 volts to neutral, 208-240 volts line to line. Ninety
percent of the watthour meters we sell are Yosemites. This is the standard electric meter for homes, apartments, offices, and yachts.
|

|
Denali Watthour Meter — Dual 110-120
volts
This is two Sequoia electric meters in one box. Saves you a lot of money if you can
use it. Usually used in marinas where two small boats share the same power pedestal.
|

|
Olympic Watthour Meter
A combination of the Yosemite and the Sequoia watthour meters. Useful if you need
separate measurements of 110-120 volt and 208-240 volt loads. Also used in place of
Yellowstone in automatic reading systems where you want the power used by each
phase.
|

|
Yellowstone Watthour
Meter - 3 phase wye, 120/208 volts
Four-wire, three phase wye, 110-120 volts to neutral, 208-240 volts line to
line. Normally used for air conditioners and other big motors. If
your building has this type of power, you should use this meter even if you only
have 120 volt loads in the office you want to meter.
|

|
Zion Watthour Meter — 3
Wire, 3 phase delta, 208 volts
Three-wire, three phase delta, 208-240 volts line to line. Use this only
if you have a balanced load. If a neutral is present in the panel, you
will get a more accurate reading with a Yellowstone or Gettysburg meter if the
load is out of balance.
|

|
Glacier Watthour Meter — 240 Volts Line to Line
Two-wire, 200-250 volts line to line, no neutral. Normally used for appliances
when a neutral is not present. If there are any loads connected to neutral
or ground, you will not get an accurate reading.
|

|
Lassen Watthour Meter - 3
phase wye, 277/480 volts
Four-wire, three phase wye, 240-280 volts to neutral, 440-480 volts line to
line electric meter. You can also use it with only one or two of the hot legs connected
(for lights, heaters, small motors).

Everglades Watthour
Meter - Bi-directional Meter
An experimental bi-directional meter intended for use with solar or wind-powered
net metering systems. The power flowing in one direction is displayed on
one counter and the power flowing in the other direction is displayed on a
second counter. Works OK with one current transformer, but not with two or
three.

Meter Enclosures
The EZ Meter was originally designed to be mounted in power pedestals on the
docks at recreational boat marinas and was originally sold without
enclosures. We now offer a growing line of enclosures for both indoor and
outdoor use. Any of the meters above can be installed in these enclosures.
Counter Mounting Plate
The stainless steel mounting plate makes it easy to install the counter in an
enclosure you provide. Just drill an inch and a half hole in the cover, snap the
counter in the plate, put the counter through the hole, and drill four holes for
#6 screws or pop rivets.
NEMA1 Enclosure
The NEMA1 enclosure is a triple-wide switch box with a custom made cover that
holds the display counter and the meter. There is no room inside for
current transformers. It is only available with the unsealed
counters. It is available with a standard switch box and with a box with a
mounting bracket.
Plastic NEMA4X Enclosures
A variety of plastic enclosures are available for one or more meters. Indoor versions are available
with either a clear cover or a solid cover. Exterior versions are available with the solid door only.
The clear cover allows the meter to be read without having to open the cover. Each enclosure has a place to install
a seal or a small padlock for security.
Single Meter NEMA4X Enclosure
The 6" x 6" x 4" plastic enclosure holds one meter and a
counter on a custom panel insert with room for current transformers or a data collection radio
behind. A more common installation has the enclosure mounted near a
breaker panel with the CTs in that panel. This enclosure can also be special ordered with cutouts for two
displays for mounting a Denali, Olympic or bidirectional meter or a second meter on
the back of the panel.
Multiple Meter NEMA4X Enclosures
The 19.5" x 14.5" x 8" enclosure holds up to 12 meters
on one panel or 24 meters on two panels. Like the smaller NEMA4X
enclosure, it is available with clear or opaque covers and interior and exterior
versions. Click here for a description of the different panel
layouts. Each panel is custom made for each job and takes about two weeks
for us to receive. Call for a quote on price and delivery.
The 13"" x 13" enclosure holds up to eight meters, and the 12" x 7" enclosure holds
up to four meters.
