We offer stand alone meters plus three technologies for automatic meter reading.
The Plus IO line of power meters can be read by computer using an RS-232 interface (4810) that connects to the meters via a twisted pair of wires or over the power line. When used with the power line, the twisted pairs connect to the power lines via a special interface module (4820). The Plus IO meters are also capable of counting pulses from three other meters (electric, water or gas), monitoring switch positions or activating relays.
The Plus line of meters is the same as the Plus IO except that it is limited to power line communication only and it does not have the capability to count pulses, monitor switches or control relays.
The KYZ Pulse Output meters have a dry contact closure that changes state every time the counter advances. The system counting the pulses must be capable of detecting changes of state as quickly as 70 milliseconds, the delay forced when two separate phases seek to advance the counter at the same time.
The 50 ms Pulse Output meters have a dry contact that closes for 50 ms every time the counter advances.
If you will be using a Plus IO meter with power line communication to read a dry contact meter, you should order the "for Plus IO" version so that the meter will not short out the signal on the power line.
